DESCRIPTION:The written words translate into our acts and our acts explain who we are. We are the survivors of a modern drama that few understood\, by considering it inconceivable. Now\, with  \nhundreds of thousands dead and a global economy in a coma\, it is imperative to choose our words carefully and translate them into concrete action. \n \n28th October is World Judo Day. It is not by chance that it coincides with the date of birth of Jigoro Kano\, founder of our sport and whose words and acts are as mature in their elaboration as they are modern in their validity. If the objective was to educate\, progress and improve through a healthy mind wrapped in a robust body\, that is\, a noble and useful purpose. We cannot sidestep our destiny when our value system is in danger. The pandemic that sweeps the planet and destroys families indiscriminately has called into question a common overall ideal that we must uphold if we do not want to succumb. A community is the sum of many things\, a conglomerate of ideals\, principles and\, above all\, people. They are individuals who propose and accept to stay together\, build\, advance\, evolve\, live and die\, always together. It is the epilogue to the greatness of humankind because they understand th \nat the group will always be more powerful than the person. \n“Stronger together” is a pledge\, an epitaph above the graves of those who left us\, so that it does not happen again. And if it happens anyway\, it is an oath that we will learn\, do better and be more effective next time. \nIt is true that cautious gestures are necessary to avoid infections. It is true that confinement and isolation are remedies in the absence of a vaccine\, but together we are always better. Together\, even in the solitude of our shared exiles\, we are stronger. Technology is not a bland input and contributes greatly in the fight against abandonment and depression. Then\, when everything has passed\, the contact remains. Life goes on. \nFor all this\, because during confinement we had to keep hold of our principles and because now we must rebuild our lives\, we will do better if we stay together; we will be stronger. \nThere are widely used phrases\, ‘Union is strength’ is one of them. However\, in some contexts it may not have been demonstrated. It is not a trivial thing\, it is a fait accompli\, especially in the field of judo; a martial art and Olympic sport whose values are the cornerstone of our coexistence and the wall that protects our civilisation. We know it\, we have demonstrated it across 3 different centuries. You know it too. Therefore\, because we need our neighbour\, we celebrate this day all together. Together we are stronger. \n

DESCRIPTION:CANCELLATION NOTICE \n  \nAs foreshadowed at the recent State President’s Forum\, unfortunately the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 National School Championships event scheduled to be held on the Gold Coast on 11 Sept. \n  \nThe inaugural event last year was a great success\, so it is disappointing to not be able to build on that momentum this year. \n  \nA variety of factors have led to this decision: \n\nUncertainty around COVID-19 situation\nUnconfirmed QLD Border reopening date\nDiscussions with school contacts in various States advising that camps/excursions/sporting events have been banned at a majority of schools until at least Term 4 (some schools have apparently said until 2021)\nInsufficient training and preparation time (the event is now only 10 weeks away and Club/School activity is yet to return in all States)\nInability to host this size/type of event in the appointed venue\, as per recent Gold Coast Venues advice\n\n  \nWe will shortly make this announcement publicly to the community\, but I wanted you to know in advance in case you receive any queries. \n  \nJA is looking forward to this event coming back bigger and better in 2021. \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The Judo Australia Randori Camp will be held after the Canberra International Open from 17th – 19th February 2020 at the Australian Institute of Sport. \n  \nThis camp is for cadet\, junior and senior athletes focusing on competition judo with the main component being randori. \n  \nOnline registrations are now open!! Register for the National Camp here \nRegistrations will close Friday 24th January 2020. \nThis camp is open to all JA Member Organisations’ and to all IJF Affiliated Organisations’ members who are Cadets or above.

DESCRIPTION:The 22nd annual Illawarra International Judo Camp is on again for state and national level competition athletes. This years training camp is targeted towards kyu grade athletes competing in 2020 with competition strategy\, technique development\, gripping strategy and of course\, plenty of randori. The venue is the International Judo Centre\, Wyllie Road\, Ian McClelland Park\, Kembla Grange\, Wollongong. \nThe program is as follows: \n                                           \nSaturday 18th January:     8:30am – 10:00am              Junior technical (12 – 15 years) \n                                                10:00am -12:30pm             Senior technical session & newaza randori (16 & above) \n                                                12:30pm -1:30pm               Lunch \n                                                 1:30pm – 2:30pm               Junior Randori session (12 – 15 years) \n                                                Group Photo \n                                                2:30pm – 5:00pm               Gripping fighting strategy\, Senior Randori session  (16 years & above) \n  \nSaturday 18th evening:       7:00pm – late                      Social evening at Shell Cove Links \n                                                                                               Dinner & drinks available at club prices              \n  \nGiven our desire to maintain the quality of the camp\, registration is by pre-entry at www.judonsw.com.au  Registration will open late November and numbers will be limited. \nCost:   $50 per person for the weekend\, or $30 per day.  Competition entry for Friday is included in camp fee.                                                  \nThe camp is aimed at competition athletes aspiring to compete in state and national kyu grade competition\, national and international competition. This camp has run successfully over many years by inviting quality competition players who freely share their expertise during coaching sessions and then we follow it up with solid randori sessions. It is a great way to start the New Year under a tried and tested format. Knowledge and skills are shared openly to all on the mat. We teach\, practise and train together\, with the aim of providing individuals the opportunity to improve their Judo skills and competition performance.
